Re: Blight Elimination Program- Notice of Successful Application and Hearing

Gibson County Commissioners applied to Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority’s (“IHCDA”) Blight Elimination Program (“BEP”). Our application was successful. The county has now received a total award for the Blight Elimination Program of $1,627,000. We have received an initial award of $1,440,000.00 on October 23, 2014 and an additional $187,000 in supplemental Blight Elimination Program funding on January 31, 2017. Working in conjunction with Bill Beauchamp, Vinwood C. Gupta, Denver L. & Agnes E. Chavis, Nancy Akers, Nicholas D. Burns, Diana Brewster, Donna M. Elpers Golday, Robert L. & Kathy Ritcheson, Stacy D. Ivers, Kellie R. Hatton, Thomas Johnstone and Habitat for Humanity of Gibson County we intend to acquire and demolish the following residential structures:

309 N. Main Street, Haubstadt, Indiana

111 S. Mill Street, Hazleton, Indiana

112 N. Tennessee Street, Hazleton, Indiana

618 S. Prince Street, Princeton, Indiana

630 S. Stout Street, Princeton, Indiana

701 N. Harrison Street, Princeton, Indiana

708 N. Harrison Street, Princeton, Indiana

933 S. Race Street, Princeton, Indiana

110 E. Trusler, Oakland City, Indiana

10061 E. Main Street, Oakland City (Somerville), Indiana

5039 S. Lincoln Street, Oakland City (Somerville), Indiana

5268 S. Washington Street, Oakland City (Somerville), Indiana

The goal of the Blight Elimination Program is to reduce the number of blighted and abandoned homes in our community and neighborhoods. We believe the acquisition and demolition of these structures will stabilize neighborhood property values, prevent avoidable foreclosures, and assist us in our efforts to keep our community and neighborhoods safe. We invite you to attend a public hearing at 1:00 P.M. (local time) on the 8th day of March, 2017 at the Economic Development Coalition of Southwest Indiana, 318 Main Street, 4th Floor Training Room, Evansville, Indiana 47708 to discuss the positive impact this program will have on our community.
