PRINCETON — Gibson Southern High School is among 238 Indiana schools ranked as Four Star Schools by the Indiana Department of Education.
The DOE released the 2016-17 list of Four Star Schools recognized for academic excellence. The award has been in existence for 30 years. To attain Four Star designation, schools must earn an "A" on the state's A-F accountability system, achieve excellent ISTEP pass rates, carry an overall high graduation rate and show success in closing achievement gaps.
Other area schools earning Four Star status include: Corpus Christi School of Evansville, Flaget Elementary in Vincennes, Good Shepherd and Holy Rosary of Evansville, Holy Trinity Catholic School of Jasper, Mater Dei, Reitz Memorial Resurrection School of Evansville, St. John The Baptist School of Newburgh, St. Wendel School of Wadesville, St. Benedict Cathedral School of Evansville, St. Philip School of Mount Vernon, Farmersville Elementary and Mount Vernon High School, North Posey High School, Heritage Hills Middle School and High School of Lincoln City, Signature School of Evansville, Ferdinand Elementary and Pine Ridge Elementary of Birdseye, Castle High School, Castle North and South Middle Schools and John H. Castle Elementary of Newburgh, Holland Elementary of Holland and Loge Elementary of Boonville.
