DARMSTADT — The Fellowship of Christian Athletes Southwest Indiana Chapter honored Wood Memorial High School senior Chloe Mowery with the newly created Gary W. Brunson Character Counts Athlete of the Year scholarship award at the chapter's Feb. 21 banquet at the Bauer Haus in Darmstadt.

Mowery was chosen as the athlete of the year displaying the FCA values of integrity, serving, teamwork and excellence in the classroom, in athletics and in her community.

The chapter chose Mowery from all of the FCA Character Counts award winners at tournaments this season. She first won the award at the Gibson County Toyota Teamwork Classic basketball tourney in December.

The honor includes a $2,000 scholarship award that Mowery can use when she enrolls in Vincennes University's nursing program next fall as she pursues a degree in nursing.

Mowery and her family were guests at the banquet, which featured former University of Evansville men's basketball coach Jim Crews as keynote speaker.

She is the daughter of Kevin and Tracy Mowery of Francisco.
