PRINCETON — Gibson County Sheriff Tim Bottoms confirmed a Gibson County deputy is under investigation.

Bottoms said the officer is on administrative leave with pay, but wasn't certain of the exact length of time the officer has been off duty.

Bottoms said the deputy was also a South Gibson school resource officer, but resigned. He said there are 22 South Gibson school resource officers.

Bottoms said Indiana State Police was asked to investigate the situation.

Indiana State Police Sgt. Todd Ringle confirmed there is a criminal investigation regarding a Gibson County employee.

“This is an ongoing investigation. Only time will tell, but it’s possible something will be released in a couple of weeks,” Ringle said. “It’s difficult to say exactly when.”

Ringle said no arrest has been made. Neither the sheriff nor Ringle identified the person under investigation.
