PRINCETON — Broadway Players kick off the 2019 season Friday evening with the comedy “Moon Over Buffalo” by Ken Ludwig.
The production is at 7 p.m. April 5-6 and April 12 -13 and at 2 p.m. April 14 in the Princeton Theatre & Community Center, 301 West Broadway in Princeton.
The comedy play centers on fading stars of the 1950s, George and Charlotte Hay, while they are performing in Buffalo, New York. On the brink of a disastrous split-up caused by George’s affair with an innocent young woman, they receive words that they might just have one last shot at stardom.
The cast of the production includes Carl Johnson as George Hay, Melissa Henning as Charlotte Hay, Jill Wright as Ethel, Janice Barniak as Rosalind, Chris MacKay as Howard, Trisha Fitzsimons as Eileen, Kristofor Schmidt as Paul and Rod Vickers as Richard. Henning and Barniak are both new to the Broadway Players’ stage.
Logan Vickers, facilities coordinator, the 2019 season will also feature a cocktail hour prior to each performance where audience members can mingle in the lobby, where drink specials and concessions are offered.
“We’re going to be doing half-pot drawings and other fundraising events to help contribute to our efforts to replace stage lights we recently learned have been discontinued and must be replaced,” Vickers said.
Tickets, at $15 each, are available for purchase at www.broadwayplayers.org or at the box office at the theatre. Group rates are available for 15 or more people. Season tickets are also available for a limited time and offer a discounted rate for tickets to all four of the 2019 Broadway Players shows: “Moon Over Buffalo,” “The Miracle Worker,” “The Musical Comedy Murders of 1945” and “A Christmas Carol.”
