PRINCETON — Darren Lee Portee, 55, a native of Princeton and beloved father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and cousin entered into eternal life with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Darren was born May 28, 1963, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst, Illinois the youngest of four boys born to William and Gloria (Stewart) Portee.

He graduated from Princeton Community High School in 1981. In his younger years, he attended Olive Branch Baptist Church.

Darren is survived by his mother Gloria D. Portee of Princeton; two daughters Josephine and Cathleen Crowe; one son Miles Portee; 10 grandchildren JaShawn, Korian, Terian, Nayley, Leiland, Cherish, King, Aaliyah, Raeah, Miles and Sophia, all of Terre Haute, Indiana; brothers Don (Sharol) of Princeton, William “H” (Terrie) of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Stewart (Lisa) of Princeton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Darren was preceded in death by his father William Portee in 1982.

A memorial celebration of his life will be Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Lamon Masden officiating.
