HAUBSTADT — Gary J. Dewig, 59, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017. Gary was born in Evansville Sept. 3, 1957 to William and Helen (Tiepe) Dewig.

He was formerly employed at Dewig Meats.

He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Gary was also a volunteer firefighter and first responder for Haubstadt Fire Dept. for 31 years.

He had a love for cars and was especially proud to enter his Model A Ford in the annual Frog Follies.

Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Charles and Paul Dewig.

Gary is survived by his wife Kathryn (Effinger) Dewig; two daughters, Jennifer (Shawn) Heavrin of Princeton and Jamie Dewig of Haubstadt; two sons, Joseph (Katie) Dewig of Vincennes and Johnny Dewig of Haubstadt; three grandchildren; three sisters, Sharon Spindler, Rosemary Weber and Dianne Hornby all of Haubstadt; one brother, Kenny Dewig of Johnson; and nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial is at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13 at Wade Funeral Home with Rosary service beginning at 1:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
