OAKLAND CITY -- Two nights after a wild 11-inning win, the Wood Memorial softball team needed dramatics to come away with a second straight win.
The Lady Trojans improved to 4-2 on the season with a 4-3 walk-off win over visiting Union-Dugger Friday evening.
Aubree Speicher collected the game-winning hit in the home half of the seventh inning.
The Lady Trojans offense pounded out 11 hits in the win as Gretchen Reel, Peyton Shoultz, Speicher and Hannah Deisher all collected two hits a piece off Oakland City University signee Madison Marlow.
"I was pleased with our hitting tonight," Wood Memorial coach Fred Reel said of his offense. "Marlow is a pretty stout pitcher who has already signed to play at OCU next year. We hit the ball well and played pretty solid defense. But when we hit well we are always going to have a chance."
Taylor McKannan went the distance inside the circle for the Lady Trojans. She scattered ten hits in earning the win.
"She did a pretty good job pitching again tonight and we finished the week on a good note," Reel said.
Wood Memorial opened up Blue Chip Conference play Monday at Barr-Reeve.
