After-hours service available

Oakland City-Columbia Twp. Public Library clerk Ben Heldt prepares books for after-hours pickup, a new service offered by the library starting this week. Items are bagged and placed in a locker. Patrons can request material by phoning the library or placing holds through the online catalog. Staff pull the material, check them out and contact borrowers when the items are ready. The after-hours service, available by request, allows users to pick up books and movies from a set of lockers installed on the library’s front porch. Items are placed in a locked stall in a well-lit area so patrons can pick up day or night. Users can use a PIN to open the locks and collect their items. For more information, phone the library at 812-749-3559.
