FORT BRANCH — Two people were arrested on drug-related charges following a traffic stop Saturday afternoon in Fort Branch.
Gibson County Sheriff’s Office reported Monday morning that Deputy Brian Naas stopped a gray 2008 Chevrolet van at 4:57 p.m. Saturday in the 700 block of East Oak Street, Fort Branch, for an equipment violation.
The release says Naas identified the driver as Kalin Deal, 31, of Owensville, and while speaking with Deal, suspected Deal might be under the influence of an intoxicant. At that point, Naas began a roadside OWI investigation. During the investigation it was discovered that a passenger in the vehicle, Christina Scott, 31, Fort Branch, had an outstanding warrant through Vanderburgh County. Illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia were also discovered in the vehicle.
Deal was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and possession of drug paraphernalia. He remains in custody on a $650 bond. Scott was charged with possession of a legend drug, possession of paraphernalia, and a hold for the outstanding felony warrant out of Vanderburgh County.
Fort Branch police officer Jeff Beck and Haubstadt police officer Riley Farmer assisted in the investigation.
