Lafayette Park pond rescue

Princeton Fire Territory, Vincennnes Township Fire department, Princeton Police, Gibson County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana Conservation Police, Gibson County Emergency Medical Services and Sully’s Wrecker Service responded to remove this 2005 Dodge Caravan minivan from the west side of the retention pond at Lafayette Park around 5 p.m. Tuesday. The accident report of the incident says Justin A. Bostick, 17, of Princeton, was driving south on a one-way northbound on Second Street near Lafayette Park Drive when he tried to turn right onto North Lafayette Park Drive at the Y intersection. According to the report, Bostick had to put the van in reverse to keep from hitting landscaping, and the vehicle rolled backward off the road and into the pond. When police arrived, everyone in the van was outside the vehicle. Princeton Fire Territory and Sully’s Towing set up a hazmat recovery system and contacted Indiana Department of Environmental Management because fluids leaked into the pond. Bostick was cited for driving the wrong way on a one-way street.
