OAKLAND CITY — East Gibson school trustees approved an advertisement for bids Monday evening in preparation for its HVAC and connector building project.
Sealed bids will be accepted until 1 p.m. Oct. 7.
The work will be bid in three contracts: Contract 1 will be the East Gibson School District connector building and related work; Contract 2 will be the East Gibson School District gymnasium HVAC improvements and related work; and Contract 3 will be a combined bid for both.
Bids will be publicly opened at Oct. 12 school board meeting.
Scott Stenftenagel, of the The Stenftenagel Group, said he hopes there will be quite a few bids sent in. He said the last few projects the company has worked on have received competitive bids.
“We are excited about the project,” he said.
The portion of the project which will connect Wood Memorial High School and Wood Memorial Junior High School also includes moving and updating the maintenance department office.
After some discussion, it was decided the maintenance office work would be bid as an alternate in the first contract.
Board president Steve Sevier said he wanted to be able to see the maintenance work broken out from the connector building to see what funding was being spent on that portion.
The project timeline anticipates having the HVAC ready for graduation in May and the connector building completed in Aug. 2021 for the start of the next school year.
