PRINCETON — A Princeton Fire Territory firefighter is suspended without pay, pending the outcome of multiple felony charges filed against him in Vanderburgh Circuit Court.

Justin M. Hyneman, Evansville, is charged with a level 5 felony count of intimidation, level 6 felony counts of domestic battery, strangulation and intimidation, and a class A misdemeanor count of interference with the reporting of a crime.

According to court records, Hyneman originally posted $1,445 cash bond in Vanderburgh County June 10. A no contact order was issued by magistrate Ryan Reed, who also granted a motion for a special prosecutor in the case.

An initial hearing was scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.

Special Prosecutor Christopher Gaal of Bloomington filed the felony charges prior to a first appearance hearing Wednesday afternoon in Evansville.

Hyneman, who retained Barry Blackard as defense counsel, entered a preliminary plea of not guilty and is scheduled for a review hearing at 9 a.m. Aug. 4 in Vanderburgh Circuit Court.
