PRINCETON — A juvenile is detained at the Southwest Indiana Youth Village in connection with a Sunday morning battery in front of the Stop N Go Store in Owensville.

Gibson County Deputy George Ballard confirmed the Wednesday evening development in the investigation into the incident, noting no other details can be released by police, since the person is a juvenile.

According to police, Shon C. Crowder, 18, Owensville, was attacked around 10 a.m. Sunday as he was walking near the store. Police said Crowder reported a vehicle with four people stopped and the driver got out and attacked him while the other three stayed in the vehicle. He said he did not know the perpetrator, but gave police a description of the vehicle and the person who attacked him.

Crowder had surgery at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville. Monday morning to reconstruct his jaw.

A GoFundMe page has been established by his family to help pay for medical expenses.
