HAUBSTADT — A Kentucky man was arrested last week after Gibson County Central Dispatch received a 911 report of a crash on State Road 68 near County Road 550 West.
The caller told dispatch that a red Mini Cooper was in a ditch on the southside of the roadway and that the driver was stumbling out of the vehicle.
Gibson County Sheriff’s Deputy Garrett Tuley and Haubstadt Police Chief Jeremy Volk were sent to the area, after also being told that a vehicle with the same description had been involved in a hit and run accident 30 minutes earlier.
The driver was found in the area, 57-year-old Mark Weissrock of Louisville, Kentucky, and admitted to officers he had been driving, according to a news release.
Deputy Tuley detected the odor of alcohol on Weissrock and began a roadside DUI investigation at that time.
The news release states Weissrock became physically combative with the officers and was placed into custody.
He was transported to the Gibson County Jail where he was booked on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, disorderly conduct, resisting law enforcement, intimidation of police officer, and leaving the scene of an accident.
