PRINCETON — Three more candidates seek GOP nomination in the May 5 primary. Incumbent at-large Gibson County Councilman Mike Stilwell filed for re-election in the GOP primary, John Perkins filed for GOP Union Township 3 Precinct Committeeman and GOP State Convention Delegate, and Carl T. Montgomery filed for Republican State Convention Delegate.
Filing last week were Gibson County Surveyor Scott Martin, seeking the GOP nomination for re-election; Larry Wira and Ken Montgomery for the GOP nomination for the Gibson County Commissioner District 2 seat held by incumbent Steve Bottoms; Mike Watkins seeking the GOP nomination for Gibson County Auditor; incumbent Gerald Bledsoe and challenger Richard Wallace seeking the GOP nomination District 3 County Commissioner; Barret Doyle for the GOP nomination for Gibson County Coroner; Dennis Gray for the GOP nomination for one of the three Gibson County Council at-large seats.
The filing period for local candidates in the May 5 primary election ends at noon Friday, Feb. 7.
Primary election choices on the ballot this spring include U.S. President, Indiana Governor, U.S. Rep. District 8, Indiana State Rep. District 64, Gibson County Auditor, Gibson County Coroner, Gibson County Surveyor, Gibson County Commissioners District 2 and 3, Gibson County Council (three at-large seats), Republican precinct committeemen and GOP and Democratic state convention delegates.
Winners of the May 5 primary advance to the November general election ballot, which will also include candidates for Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction, Indiana Attorney General, East Gibson District 2 and 4 school board seats, North Gibson District 3 (two seats) and 4 (one seat) school board and South Gibson Districts 1,2 and 3 seats.
