GREENWOOD — Princeton Community High School's Marching Tigers earned a gold rating in Indiana State School Music Association Regional competition at Center Grove High School Saturday afternoon, qualifying for ISSMA Semistate competition Nov. 2 at Decatur Central High School.

The Tigers, directed by Scott Salmond, competed in Class C bands and earned a top 10 rating to advance from the regional field with their show "Hue."

The Tigers got an early morning send-off of applause Saturday from the PCHS Cross Country team, and the band was welcomed home with a fire truck escort through downtown Princeton.

Also advancing to semistate in that division are Vincennes Lincoln, Corydon Central, Bosse High School, Beech Grove, Edgewood, Norwell, Mount Vernon, Scottsburg and Boonville. Twenty bands will compete in Semistate for the chance to be one of 10 advancing to ISSMA's state finals at Lucas Oil Stadium Nov. 9.

The Marching Tigers take the field for the Nov. 2 Semistate competition at 5:15 p.m. Princeton time, with awards to be announced at 6 p.m. Princeton time.
