OWENSVILLE — A woman was arrested Tuesday after Gibson County Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Naas stopped to check on a blue 2011 Toyota sport utility vehicle along the side of Ind. 168 near County Road 325 West.

The driver was identified as Melissa Fithian, 51, Owensville.

According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, Naas believed Fithian may have been under the influence of alcohol.

After a roadside investigation, Fithian was placed in custody, at which point illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia were found, police said.

She was booked on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamines, three counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
