NEWBURGH — Charles E. “Sonny” Pretzsch 82, of Newburgh, formerly of Mt. Vernon and Carmi, Illinois, died Sunday, July 26 at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville.

He was born in Carmi Jan. 28, 1938, son of E. Edward and Elsie (Trout) Pretzsch.

He worked at GE in Mt. Vernon prior to retirement. He enjoyed bowling, reading, IU basketball and being with his grandkids.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Linda (Thomas) Pretzsch; son, Scotty (Kathy) Pretzsch; daughter, Cathy (James) Elliott; six grandchildren; a soon-to-be-born great grandchild; and brother, Ronald (Kay) Pretzsch.

Funeral service is at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, at Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, with burial at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Cemetery in Thompsonville, Illinois. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Due to the national health crisis, facial masks and social distancing are required.

Memorials may made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
