PRINCETON — John D. Waldroup, 83, of Princeton passed away Jan. 6, 2021, at Golden Living Center — Brentwood in Evansville.

He was born Dec. 19, 1937, to William Harrison Waldroup and Dorothy Grace (Jones) Waldroup in Princeton where he lived all of his life.

He was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard. He worked at the Whirlpool Factory in Evansville for 44 years and as a Walmart door greeter for 20 years, some of those simultaneously. He was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Princeton and will be greatly missed by those who loved him dearly.

John is survived by his wife, Pauline Waldroup of Princeton; daughter, Paulette Hall of Newburgh; grandchildren, Destinee DeJarnett (Anthony) and Jakob Hall; great-grandchildren, Chance, Abbi, Jayneiha, Jayahna, Anthony, Jr., and Jayla; and brother, Ted Waldroup of Princeton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Juanita Mitchell, Norma Dill, and Bill Waldroup.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, 2021, at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Princeton officiated by Pastor John Schmeling. Interment will follow at Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton. A visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. until the hour of service Friday at the church. The Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton has been entrusted with arrangements. Due to COVID-19 mandates, gathering sizes are limited to 25 people with social distancing and masks are required.
