Earl William "Bill" Green, 88, a longtime resident of Princeton, passed at his home on Friday, Nov. 29, 2019.
He was a man that was a good neighbor to all. He was born on Saturday, Nov. 7, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois, to Earl and Dolimah Green, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his sister Mollie O'Brien and his step-mother, Sarah Green.
Bill was a graduate of Princeton High School, where he played football and ran track. Bill graduated from Oklahoma A & M College. After working in the family business, Green Cleaners, and Winkler's Drive-In, Bill started his career as a lineman with the Princeton Telephone Company. He retired in 1993 from the then-Contel Telephone Company. Bill kept active well after retirement and was never one to sit idly, as he enjoyed living life to the fullest.
Bill is survived by his wife, Mary Rosina "Rose" Green, whom he married Aug. 6, 1955. Other survivors include Jenny (Dave) Beumel of Cannelton, Susie Green (Tim Masters) of Princeton and Bob (Cathy) Green of Wheeling. Bill is also survived by four grandchildren: Lance Simms, Mary (Chris) Vaz, Sarah (Ryan) McGar, and Arnold Becker, as well as Bills two great-granddaughters, Ava and Mya Simms, along with Jessie Masters and three nieces and nephews that will miss him dearly.
Per Bill's wishes, cremation will take place, and there will be a time of visitation with the family from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, at Doyle Funeral Home, located at 520 S. Main St. Princeton, IN 47670. Doyle Funeral Home in Princeton, Indiana, has the honor of having charge of the arrangements.
