FORT BRANCH — Larry Lee Montgomery Sr., 70, of Fort Branch, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on June 25, 2020.

He was born to Richard and Mary (Schahl) Montgomery Nov. 18, 1949, in Lincoln, Illinois.

Larry graduated from Litchfield High School in Litchfield, Illinois in 1967 and married the love of his life, Joyce Bragg in 1971. He worked with heavy duty equipment and sales, but his passion was sports and his Chicago sports teams. Larry coached for Fort Branch Tee Ball, Fort Branch Minor League, Fort Branch Little League, Fort Branch Softball, Gibson County Youth Soccer, and Boys Club Youth Football. He was a Coach Board Member and received a Lifetime Achievement Award for the Titan Youth Football League. He was also a member of the Titan Football Chain Gang for 20 years.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Joyce Montgomery of Fort Branch; his four children, Larry (LaDonna) Montgomery Jr. ofNewburgh, Christina Montgomery-Perkins of Fort Branch, Richard (LaToya Relish) Montgomery of Geismar, Louisiana, and Marty Montgomery of Oakland City; brothers, Jon (Sharon) Montgomery and Steve (Jan) Montgomery; a sister, Debora (Bill) Michael; grandchildren, Alex Montgomery, Amy, Jessica, Kailey, Sarah, and Andrew Perkins, Devon Montgomery, Richard Montgomery, Jr., and Andre Montgomery; and a great-grandchild, Hayden Lynch.

A Celebration of Life service will be Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at 6 p.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch, with Reverend Craig Duke officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 1, 2020, from 2 p.m. until service time.
