OAKLAND CITY — Peggy A. Bruce, 81, of Oakland City, died at Deaconess Heart Hospital in Newburgh, Jan. 20, 2020.

She was born to Clifford and Nina (White) Blackard on Aug. 20, 1938, in Fort Branch.

She was a member of the Eastern Star of Oakland City and of the Presbyterian faith. She graduated from Deaconess Nurses Training Program in 1959 and retired from Wirth Hospital in 2000 as a registered nurse.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by one brother, Larry Blackard.

She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Morris Bruce; and two brothers, Mick (Nancy) Blackard of Haubstadt, and William (Joanie) Blackard of Evansville.

Services will be Friday, Jan. 24, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch and will be officiated by the Rev. Corey Atkins with burial to follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
