EVANSVILLE — Rita M. (Boeglin) Elpers, 83, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022 at North River Health Campus.

Rita was born Aug. 27, 1938 in Evansville to Hugo and Mary Louise (Angermeier) Boeglin.

She was a loving wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma. She was a hairdresser for more than 50 years, where she loved to visit with her patrons (friends). She was a lifelong member of St. James Catholic Church, where she was involved in many activities for the parish such as Altar Society, D of I, Parish Picnic and various fundraisers. She loved to attend her grandkids’ sporting events. She also loved to travel and go places. She could talk to anyone, never knowing a stranger.

Surviving Rita are her husband of 65 years, Jim; her children, Jackie (Clayton) Claybrooks; Judy (Rusty) Euler; Jane (Shane) Gerth; Jim (Julie) Elpers; Jody (Michele) Elpers and Jill (Matt) Schmitt; a brother, Fr. John Boeglin, Pastor of Holy Family Jasper; 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandsons, Jeremy and Kaleb Elpers.

A Mass of Christian burial for Rita was Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022 at St. James Catholic Church, with Fr. John Boeglin, along with other priests, officiating. Burial was in St. James Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. James or your favorite charity in memory of Rita.

Wade Funeral Home in Haubstadt is handling the arrangements.
