FORT BRANCH — Robert P. Wirth, 80, of Fort Branch, passed away Monday, March 6, 2023 at Deaconess Gibson General Hospital in Princeton.

He was born Sept. 30, 1942 in Chicago, to Earl and Dorothy (Vitito) Wirth. Before residing in Fort Branch the past 12 years, he had also lived in Union, and in Texas. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He had worked as a carpenter and a car salesman. He enjoyed fishing and trading and had the nickname “Trader Bob.” He loved animals especially his dog who was with him wherever he went.

Robert is survived by his wife, Martha Schaffer of Fort Branch; stepson, De’Ver Schaffer of Fort Branch; brother, Charles Wirth of Princeton; and sister, Martha Lloyd (James) of Princeton.

Funeral service is at 3 p.m. Friday, March 10, at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton with Major Chris Marques officiating. Burial follows at Decker Cemetery in Patoka. Visitation is Friday at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the service time.
