PRINCETON — Virginia Mae Houchins, 95, of Princeton, went to be with the Lord March 11, 2023.

She was born in Princeton July 23, 1927 to Alvin and Locie (Smith) Jarvis. Jenny retired from Standard Printing Company after 20 years of service. She was a member of First General Baptist Church in Princeton. Jenny enjoyed traveling in her later years and taking cruises with friends.

She is survived by step-son, Ron (Lucretia) Houchins; nephews, Dale (Lisa), Dennis and Randy Young, Tony (Debbie), Stanley (Kris) and Gary (Jenn) Jarvis; nieces, Sandra (Mark) Boling, Kristina (Estee) Harper and Kristy Jarvis; several great nieces including Shaina Worland, Shannon Young, and Cristy Tipton; and several great nephews.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Lillie Jarvis; first husband, Jimmy Deffendall; second husband, Luther Houchins; stillborn children, Stanley Wayne, Linda Lou, Patricia Ann, and Imogene; sisters, Martha Jarvis Morris, Carol Linxwiler, and Naomi Jarvis; brothers, Gilbert and Harvey Jarvis; and a nephew, Michael Jarvis.

Funeral service is at noon Thursday, March 16, at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton with Brad Keenan officiating. Burial follows at Montgomery Cemetery in Oakland City. Visitation is Thursday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the service time.

The family thanks River Oaks Heath Campus, Gentiva Hospice, and former caregivers; Edna Hutton, Sandy Smith, Debbie Hale, Diana Evans, and Cindy Hillyard; and special friends, Vera Hurst, Devona Smith, Catherine Williams and Kelly Anderson.

Memorial contributions may be made to First General Baptist Church in Princeton. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
