Do you know someone who is hesitant to get a COVID-19 vaccination? I was hesitant last May when Operation Warp Speed was announced. I was skeptical about how a vaccine that normally takes years to develop would be deemed safe so quickly.
I read, listened, and learned from health professionals, including doctors and epidemiologists. I became convinced the vaccines would be approved only if safe and effective.
I began wondering how I could help battle this pandemic. My opportunity came when I was accepted to be part of a vaccine trial. I received my two shots in November and December.
Two vaccines were approved. I was told that I had received the placebo in the trial. As soon as my age group was eligible, I registered for my vaccination. I felt relief. Following my second shot, I felt euphoric! I remain a part of the vaccine trial so my antibodies can be checked and shared with the CDC.
My college-aged grandchildren are now getting vaccinated. What a relief that all of the family will soon be fully vaccinated!
Don’t be hesitant. Register and get vaccinated to protect yourself, family, friends, and neighbors. Indiana has lots of sites and vaccine available. But, until family, friends and neighbors are vaccinated, wear a mask!

Time flies, planes crash and freedom dies
Exactly 18 years ago today, on a beautiful Sunday afternoon of April 13, 2003, there was an awesome event at Lafayette Park in Princeton. At exactly 2 p.m., two F-16 fighter jets roared over a crowd of more than 2,000 folks commemorating one of the many troop support rallies. This call for service people was because they were needed to serve our country in the Middle East wars. We were especially honoring the dedicated military involvement of more than 70 individuals from Gibson County.
This hometown event was supported by all who were asked to volunteer their time, money or services to make it a success to always remember. I would need a full page to document all the amazing things that made this happen so quickly. I see it as an example of how things can happen when people unite for a common worthy cause.
Of course, this all relates to the horrific acts of terrorism of Sept. 11, 2001 in various parts of the country. Soon, remembrance ceremonies will be starting to acknowledge the loss of thousands of lives and billions in property and economic loss. What we didn’t lose was our freedom or way of life then. However, those events started serious discussion about how fragile our homeland security was and how easily a small group of dedicated people, terrorists in this case, can alter a nation’s complacent attitude of “it won’t happen here.” Many think it only happens in third-world countries where dictators, killing and terror are a way of life.
In the ensuing 20 years we have seen so man changes in the way we have to live and obey new regulations related to safety, security and freedom. This leads to frustration that free peace-loving people find hard to deal with and government wants to control.
On June 16, 1858, Abraham Lincoln quoted scripture, stating “A house divided cannot stand.” Jesus said, “Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste and a divided household falls.” In Proverbs it says “God hates one who sows discord among brothers.” There are many other biblical warning with similar concepts. Unfortunately, throughout history, families, organizations or governments have disregarded these teachings of God and have suffered failures.
We can now see daily how our so-called leaders are creating divisions among so many various factions that I along with millions others, fear for what can soon initiate the fall of this once great country. This could be from a natural “act of God” disaster, actions of masses fighting a new civil war or invasion from outside our borders like so many other nations have experienced.
Now our “leaders” are showing how much they fear the “mobs” and feel they have to barricade themselves behind an iron curtain surrounded by armed guards, just waiting for the opportunity to disarm freedom-loving citizens. I wonder how much longer this tottering “house” will stand. Billions of people around the world, some of whom we helped and others we fought so valiantly against, are patiently waiting on the sidelines, waiting for our eventual collapse if major corrections are not made soon. Were all those lives lost and treasure spent throughout our long history only to embrace on our own land the very kind of government we were constantly fighting against?
Why our “leaders” want to bring socialism to our shores is beyond my belief and comprehension. This country is full of people who fled those types of government and arrived here penniless but determined to succeed because they arrived in a free country that welcomed and embraced oppressed people. Where will these kinds of people flee to next?
I consider the direction the population is trending toward: people accepting so many “free” benefits but unwilling to make any sacrifices, leading a sedentary lifestyle, being influenced by a biased media, reading fake news information on all platforms, partaking in addictive activities, watching all kinds of trash on TV, movies and internet. Is it any wonder that many will embrace a “sugar daddy” form of government?
Then we have those who are determined to re-write history, change morality standards, get drugs endorsed by many states so they can reap the profits that once went to the cartels. The influence of religion is being replaced by “leadership” that has been influenced by people who wanted to fundamentally transform America and never let a crisis go to waste. Willingly pandering to every strange perception of discrimination, offense, perversion and other slights to a fragile ego.
We’ve already seen the results of taking religious teachings out of public sight. next will be removing any reference to God on our money, in the pledge, laying hands on the Bible while taking an oath, giving churches tax advantages, having crosses on buildings removed, etc.
Because the covid pandemic is diverting our attention from the imminent collapse of our system of government, it will be easy for laws limiting travel, income, association, recreation, religion, etc. to take effect quicly. Biblical prophesy regarding end times events are seemingly rapidly falling in place and we are being lulled into thinking the world is seeking peace. The administration’s process for giving vaccinations could be a prelude to a worldwide plan to a mark that all must get to survive.
I could go and on but for the sake of conclusion, I reference the thoughts of Alexander Tytler, who make this observation: “A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance; From abundance to selfishness; From selfishness to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage.”
Think about the age of the United States, 244 years, and at what position of that curve you believe we are at.
With a “leader” exhibiting cognitive difficulties and politicians of both parties bickering over pointless issues, do you truly believe that America has a long and glorious future or is this experiment in freedom and democracy doomed to failure? I sincerely hope we survive.
