The 2021 All-County girls soccer season has come to an end in Gibson County as both the Princeton Community Lady Tigers and Gibson Southern Lady Titans were eliminated in their respective sectional semifinal matches last Thursday.

Princeton went just 3-13 in the regular season but defeated Pike Central 4-1 in their Class 2A sectional first round matchup. They took Vincennes Lincoln into half-tied 2-2 in the sectional semifinals but last the match 8-2 ending their season.

Gibson Southern put together a stellar 13-2-1 regular season that resulted in the Lady Titans earning a share of the Pocket Athletic Conference title.

After drawing a first-round bye in sectionals, the Lady Titans ran into an Evansville Mater Dei team who beat them 3-1 in the regular season and were able to replicate their success as Mater Dei ended Gibson Southern’s season with a 6-1 win.

With the season in the books, 11 players have earned a spot on the Princeton Daily Clarion’s annual All-County team.

Seven players come from Gibson Southern and four from Princeton Community.

GOALTENDERCHOLEY GRAHAM, GIBSON SOUTHERN

Lady Titans sophomore goaltender Choley Graham was a force in net. After a 3-1 loss to Mater Dei on September 9, she rattled off eight straight games where she did not allow a goal as she earned 13 wins in net, with 10 of those being shutouts. On the year, she posted 11 shutouts as she did not allow a goal during a 0-0 draw in the regular season finale at Evansville Central. She played every minute of the Lady Titans season the net, not missing a second of action.

MIDFIELDERS/FORWARDSMYA LAMBERT, PRINCETON COMMUNITY

Mya Lambert put together a stellar junior season for the Lady Tigers as their striker. She scored a team-high eight goals and added two assists to finish the year with 18 points.

ELLA JONES, GIBSON SOUTHERN

Gibson Southern sophomore Ella Jones was hard to contain from her forward position. She scored a team-high 16 goals for the Lady Titans and added four assists for an impressive grand tally of 36 points on the season, also leading Gibson Southern.

MAURA KLUESNER, GIBSON SOUTHERN

Senior Maura Kluesner formed a dominant forward duo with Jones. She finished second on the team with 12 goals scored and 34 points and ranked first with a team-high 10 assists. She also did a terrific job as the Lady Titans corner kick specialist as she attempted 65 of the team’s 77 corner kicks on the year.

RILEY BRYANT, GIBSON SOUTHERN

Gibson Southern junior Riley Bryant had a productive season as a forward for the Lady Titans while also making plays in the midfield. She scored 11 goals ranking third on the team while also adding seven assists which ranked second. Bryant finished the year third on the team with 29 points.

LEXI SMITH, PRINCETON COMMUNITY

Lexi Smith played a key role in generating offense for the Lady Tigers as a forward while also making plenty of big plays near midfield to move the ball toward the opposing goal. She finished her sophomore season with three goals, a team-high four assists and 10 points, which ranked second.

MADALYNN STECKLER, GIBSON SOUTHERN

Lady Titan senior Madalynn Steckler was among the top midfielders in the PAC in 2021. She recorded nine goals to give herself a total of 18 points on the season. Her defensive efforts helped keep the pressure on opposing defenses and off of the Lady Titans’ defense and keeper.

DEFENDERS

KIARA BANKS, PRINCETON COMMUNITY

Kiara Banks did not allow opposing forwards to get by her often during her sophomore season for the Lady Titans. She even added a goal to earn two points on the season.

KALEIGH BAEHL GIBSON SOUTHERN

Junior Kaleigh Baehl was pivotal for a Lady Titans defense that posted 11 shutouts. She also moved upfield and made plays on offense as she scored three goals and recorded two assists to total eight points from her defensive position.

KELSEY ELLIS, PRINCETON COMMUNITY

Kelsey Ellis had a terrific season helping contain opposing offenses from her defensemen position for the Lady Tigers. The junior also was able to make a key play on offense as she scored a goal to join Banks with two points on the season.

CARMEN HASENOUR, GIBSON SOUTHERN

Lady Titans senior Carmen Hasenour was also pivotal in the Lady Titans impressive defensive season that saw them record 11 shutouts. She factored in on offense as well, scoring two goals for a total of four points on the year and attempting two corner kicks.
