VERNE — It was a clean sweep for both local cross country programs Saturday morning at South Knox High School.
The boys and girls teams from both Gibson Southern and Princeton Community placed in the Top 5 in the team standings of the South Knox Sectinoal, qualifying for the regional next weekend.
The Gibson Southern boys team placed third overall in the team standings, while the Tigers placed fifth.
Vincennes Lincoln edged the host Spartans for the team title, while Barr-Reeve finished wedged between the Titans and Tigers.
Gibson Southern seniors Zach Purcel and Aidan Neel were the top local finishers as the duo finished third and fourth overall.
Cooper Clark led Princeton Community with a 15th-place finish.
On the girls side, Gibson Southern and Princeton also placed third and fifth, respectively, in the team standings.
South Knox took home the team title, followed by Barr-Reeve while Pike Central was fourth.
Heide and Haley Meade were the top local finishers as the Lady Tiger twins finshed second and third, respectively.
Ashley Evetts and Taylor Hart paced the Lady Titans by finishing ninth and tenth, respectively.
Both Gibson Southern and Princeton Community will continue its seasons at the Pike Central Regional next Saturday.
The Top 5 teams and Top 10 runners not on qualifying teams will advance from the regional to the Brown County Semistate the following weekend.
