Al Lentz and Hillary Humbaugh

Lady Titans golf coach Al Lentz, left, pictured with team MVP Hillary Humbaugh, completed his two-year tenure as the program’s head coach following the 2021 season.

Al Lentz will not return as the Gibson Southern Lady Titans golf coach next season but not due to a lack of success.

Lentz had a phenomenal two-year tenure as Lady Titans head coach. He watched his team increase their win total by 31 in his two seasons as after a 56-33 mark in 2020, Lentz’s Gibson Southern squad went 87-29 in 2021.

In both of his seasons leading the Lady Titans, the team won the Pocket Athletic Conference title as the program has now won nine straight PAC titles.

The Lady Titans were sectional runner-ups in both years under Lentz and had the 2021 sectional individual champion in Hillary Humbaugh.

He also led the team to two Forest Park invite titles, had eight All-PAC individual Selections in his two years and also coached the program’s first-ever Academic All-State Golfer in Humbaugh.

Lentz was described as “a Great Ambassador of Gibson Southern Golf” by team statistician and Twitter manager Pete Humbaugh.
