INDIANAPOLIS — During its monthly meeting, on Thursday the Indiana High School Athletic Association approved sectional host sites for the upcoming boys and girls basketball state tournaments.

Locally, Princeton Community will be a host site for the Class 3A sectional for girls, while Wood Memorial will be hosts of the Class A girls sectional.

The 3A Princeton Sectional will consist of Pike Central, Sullivan Vincennes Lincoln and Washington.

Last season, the Lady Wildcats played in the 3A Vincennes Lincoln Sectional, which was won by the hosts.

Gibson Southern, who hosted a 3A girls sectional last year, will be part of the Heritage Hills Sectional.

The sectional will also include Boonville, Evansville Bosse, Evansville Memorial and Mt. Vernon.

At Wood Memorial, the Trojans will be joined by Cannelton, Northeast Dubois, Springs Valley and Tecumseh.

Last season, Wood Memorial traveled to Springs Valley.

For the regional level, winners at Princeton and Heritage Hills will be part of the Charleston Regional, while the winner at Wood Memorial will travel to West Washington.

Jeffersonville and Jasper will be the two sites for semistates in the South.

On the boys side, all three local schools will hit the road.

In Class A, Wood Memorial will travel to the Springs Valley Sectional. The Trojans will be paired with Cannelton, Evansville Day, Northeast Dubois and Vincennes Rivet in addition to the hosts.

Last season Wood Memorial hosted the Class A sectional.

Just like on the girls side, Gibson Southern and Princeton will once again be placed in separate 3A sectionals.

Gibson Southern will return to the Boonville Sectional along with Evansville Bosse, Evansville Reitz, Heritage Hills and Mt. Vernon.

Princeton will be placed in the Vincennes Lincoln Sectional. The Tigers and Alices will be joined by Pike Central, Sullivan and Washington.

Winners at Boonville and Lincoln will be part of the Washington Regional, while the winner at Springs Valley will head to Loogootee.

Washington and Seymour will be semi-state host in the South.

Sectional games for the girls are slated to commence Feb. 4, while the boys’ state tournament will get underway on March 3.
