There will be a new face on the opposing sideline when the Princeton Community Tigers and Gibson Southern Titans face conference rival Tell City next season.
Tuesday coaching veteran Mike Brown was approved as the new coach of the Marksmen at the Tell City-Troy Township school board meeting.
Brown has 33 years of coaching experience across multiple schools in Indiana and holds an impressive career record of 498-281 that places him 11th among all active high school coaches in the state in wins.
His past coaching stops were at Christian Academy of Indiana, Crawford County, South Dearborn, Shawe Memorial and Salem. He last coached for Salem, where he resigned following the 2019-20 season.
Brown takes over for Matt Lynch, who stepped down to take the head coaching job at Charlestown. Lynch had an impressive run at Tell City that saw him and the Marksmen go 69-50 and win a Class 2A sectional title in 2019.
Last year COVID-19 limited the Marksman to just 19 games in which they went 8-12 and lost to Eastern (Pekin) in the Class 2A 46 sectional.
Their game against Princeton Community last season was postponed due to inclement weather and was not made up. Gibson Southern defeated Tell City 36-34 on January 2.
