The first regular season game is still over a week and a half away, but the first football poll of the season was released on Monday.
The Pre-Season Indiana Football Coaches Association Coaches Poll came out and Gibson Southern was voted at No. 4 in Class 3A.
Defending Class 3A state champions West Lafayette received 10 first-place votes and 100 points overall after a perfect campaign last season.
West Lafayette finished No. 2 in the final media poll last season before defeating Evansville Memorial in the state championship game.
Indianapolis Chatard received 83 points for the No. 2 spot, while Indianapolis Brebeuf is the pre-season No. 3 with 67 points -- five points ahead of the Titans.
Brebeauf lost to West Lafayette last season in the regional.
West Lafayette, Chatard and Brebeauf are all in the 3A Sectional 28 this season.
Gibson Southern finished 9-3 last season and had its season end by Memorial for the third straight year.
There will not be a fourth straight post-season defeat as the Tigers were bumped up to 4A this season due to the IHSAA success factor. Memorial reached the title game the last two seasons, including a state championship in 2017.
Memorial received 16 points in the preseason poll -- good for 13th in 4A.
Heritage Hills -- another rival of the Titans -- enters the season ranked No. 5 in the pre-season poll.
The Patriots received 49 points in the opening poll after finishing last season with a 10-1 mark.
The lone loss for Heritage Hills last season came in the sectional semifinal to Gibson Southern.
The Patriots won the regular season matchup giving them the Pocket Athletic Conference championship.

The two conference rivals will square off on Sept. 27 on the Titans home field.
Gibson Southern travels to Evansville Central -- Class 4A Preseason No. 2 -- on Friday for a scrimmage.
The Titans open the regular season on Aug. 23 when they play host to PAC foe Forest Park.
Princeton Community, who finished 3-7 last season, will host a scrimmage against Tecumseh on Friday before hosting Evansville North in Week 1 of the regular season.
